Facts and HistorySMVDU was created under an Act of the J&K State Legislature in 1999 as a fully residential technical University, the first of it's kind in J&K. Recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956, the university receives funding from UGC. 
Office & AdministrationHis Excellency the Governor of J&K, Sh. N N Vohra is the Chancellor of the University while Prof. R N K Bamezai is the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the University. Mrs. Roop Avtar Kaur, IFS is the Registrar of the University. 
Visitors InformationSMVDU Campus is located 14 Kms short of the holy town of Katra and about 40 Kms from Jammu, which is is extremely well connected by Road, Rail & Air.
