Katra 27 August. School of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University organized a special Lecture on “ Development of Dogri Language and Literature” in the university campus. Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha delivered the talk and welcomed the move of University  in the direction of  native languages  under the stewardship of Prof. R.N. K Bamezai . In his lecture, Prof. Magotra dwelt upon the history and development of Dogri language and Literature and suggested some areas of research in Dogri language and literature particularly related to the History and folk-literature of this region.

Earlier, Prof. Magotra accompanied by other member of Dogri Sanstha, Mr. Gyanendra, a renowned Dogri poet donated books to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Bamezai for the University Library. The books included some publications of Dogri Sanstha and some short stories and collection of poems. Prof. Bamezai appreciated the effort of Dogri Sanstha and thanked them for their contribution in giving a fillip to proposed research in native languages in the University. 

Welcoming the guest speaker, Dr. Vandhana Sharma, Director, School of Languages and Literature highlighted the significance of research in native languages which are endangered in the present era of neo colonialism. Prof. R.S Misra, Dean of the College thanked Dogri Sanstha and gave his blessings.   All students and scholars of School of Languages and Literature and School of Philosophy and Culture participated in the talk.
